  • Can anyone be hypnotised?

The majority of people can be hypnotised. There are a few exceptions, e.g. those with major mental health problems, some drug users and alcoholics, those with learning difficulties or dementia, as well as pregnant women and very young children. Depending on personality type, some people are more difficult to hypnotise than others. But no one can be hypnotised against their will.

  • How will I be hypnotised?

Usually by a voice induction. Although there are numerous other methods that can help you to enter a deep and pleasant state of relaxation, so that your subconscious mind will be ready to accept the appropriate therapy for you to change your life.

  • Will I be in a trance or asleep? If so, can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No, you will be aware of everything that is going on around you. Some people describe hypnosis as being similar to that halfway stage between being asleep and awake. A state of complete relaxation. No one can 'get stuck' in hypnosis, if anything upsets you, you would simply open your eyes and come back to an aware, awake state.

  • Will I give away secrets while in hypnosis or be made to do things against my will?

No, you will retain complete control over your thought processes. Hypnosis does not give anybody power over the person that is hypnotised. The state of hypnosis is achieved by the person that is being hypnotised - the hypnotherapist is just the facilitator.

  • What does it feel like to be hypnotised?

There is not really any such thing as a hypnotised feeling, although most people will say that it is a very relaxing experience. Once people have entered it a few times, they become more aware of how it feels for them. Most experience time distortion - thinking that the session has been much shorter than it actually has been.

  • Is it good for performance enhancement?

Hypnosis, with the correct therapeutic intervention, can help with performance enhancement - including:

    • Sporting performance
    • Career matters
    • Memory and concentration
    • Stage performance
    • Study
    • Exams and tests
    • Presentation / speaking skills

  • How does hypnosis work?

The hypnosis is the same, it's the 'therapy' part that is different. The stage hypnotist entertains people. The clinical hypnotherapist is dedicated to improving the quality of life.

  • Is being able to be hypnotised a sign of a weak mind?

Actually, it is the other way round! An intelligent person usually goes into hypnosis very easily.

  • Why is it that hypnosis can help so many conditions?

Because so many fears, phobias, habits are the result of our life experiences that have been locked away in our subconscious mind.
